CMRU Promotes Community-Based Tourism: Launching the Chang Phueak–Hua Wiang Cultural Route Towards the International Stage through Local Collaboration

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University (CMRU) is actively promoting community-based tourism by launching a new cultural tourism route through the Chang Phueak–Hua Wiang area in Chiang Mai. The initiative aims to elevate local tourism to the international level through strong collaboration among local stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, tourism entrepreneurs, and local residents.

Highlights of the Project:
Community Engagement: Local people co-design tourism activities that reflect their traditions, local wisdom, and way of life.

Grassroots Economic Development: Sustainable tourism provides direct income to the community.

Cultural and Historical Attractions: The Chang Phueak and Hua Wiang areas are rich in cultural heritage, featuring ancient temples, traditional arts, local markets, and authentic Northern Thai cuisine.

Sustainable Development: The initiative aligns with SDG principles and promotes environmental conservation.

Project Goals:
Raise community-based tourism to international standards

Attract both domestic and international visitors

Inspire a sense of pride and belonging among the younger generation
